la lune.
ask the moon

For Jeanne Vessantra.
One language is often not enough.
one morning
i left
stepped out
into the bright sun
forgot my body
but brought my heart
a blackbird sings me a song
my memories fade
how to hold them tight?
i dance in the street
dis-le à la lune
erzähl es dem mond
dis-le à tout le monde ici
erzähl es allen hier
dis-le à tous ceux qui m'aiment
erzähl es allen, die mich lieben
and even those
who never did
please smile
smile
when you think of me
ask the moon
he remembers my name
all this time
where have i been?
i have no idea
i would like to stay
je dois partir
je t'aime
ich liebe dich
je t'aime tellement
ich liebe dich so sehr
do you love me?
je vous aime,
je dois partir

The polyphonic structure and the dance between French, German, and English create a fascinating sense of displacement, Anna. The boundary between the formal and the informal, the past and the present, is highly effective. Thank you for sharing this experiment. I am honored that it found its way to my evening. 🖤 it made me happy.
this piece is sooo beautiful, blending french german and english is like finding love in every language, despite any barriers. i genuinely love your work as a fellow poet and just subbed :)
